Vilshofen

Arriving in Vilshofen, we will already have the first challenging week behind us. From 9h30, a colourful reception with musical accompaniment and nice activities await us on the Danube promenade at the level of the second boat landing stage.

At 10 a.m., Mayor Florian Gams will welcome us with words of greeting, afterwards we invite all interested parties to a talk and media representatives can ask Andreas Fath questions.

In addition to our workshops, we are planning other accompanying activities.

Donaustauf

In Donaustauf, in cooperation with the Donaustauf primary school, we will hold workshops for 160 pupils on the topics of the Danube water world, microplastics and water pollution.

Regensburg

In Regensburg we will meet at 16h for a press reception opposite the northernmost point of the Danube at the artwork at Schillerwiese (49.03031866622205, 12.064702269281426). Passers-by and members of the press are welcome to attend.

Afterwards, Andreas Fath will be accompanied by canoeists and kayakers to Donaustauf. The start is at 17h at the same place.

Ingolstadt

At the end of the first exhausting weekend, we expect Andreas Fath in Ingolstadt around 5 pm to talk to press representatives and interested passers-by.

At 15h the meeting point in Ingolstadt at the Danube steps is already set for:

  • A joint clean up by Green Office KU, Denk Nachaltig e.V., Zero Waste Ingolstadt, Leo Club Ingolstadt, Lions Clubs Ingolstadt, Xylem and Foodsharing Eichstätt. The route leads across the bridge to the Danube beach.
  • the workshops by cleandanube

From 17h onwards, the presentation of the collected rubbish bags will also take place on the Theatre Square – the most extraordinary rubbish finds will be awarded prizes by Xylem and the Leo Club.

Neuburg

On our way to Ingolstadt we stop in Neuburg:

At 10h our meeting point for the following activities in Neuburg is the green area directly at the Oskar-Wittmann-Straße near the Donauruderclub (coordinates: 48.73799670777411, 11.185732972858426):

  • Joint Clean Up by: Aueninstitut Neuburg, Green Office KU, Lions Club Neuburg, Sustainability Campus Neuburg THI, Foodsharing Eichstätt. The route is planned towards the Hofgarten.
  • Workshops by Cleandanube

At 13h follows the arrival of Prof. Fath. The Lord Mayor and the District Administrator will address him with words of greeting, the local Lions Club will present a cheque and the collected rubbish bags from the Clean Up will be presented. Refreshments will be provided and Prof. Fath will be available to answer questions from members of the press and passers-by.

At about 14h Prof. Fath will swim on to Ingolstadt.

Günzburg

In Günzburg we held our first trial swim and are therefore even more looking forward to seeing you again on site.

Together with the local Lions Club of the city and other partners, we have prepared a colourful programme:

At 10 a.m. Andreas Fath will arrive in Günzburg, where he will be welcomed with a live broadcast into the city centre. At around 10.30 a.m., he and the second mayor, Dr Ruth Niemetz, will answer questions from all interested parties at a press conference in the Maria-Ward-Gymnasium before entering the Danube again and continuing his swim.

Accompanying the event is a colourful programme of workshops (11h30 -13h and 14h-16h), an auction of artworks created from plastic waste (during the morning) and the interactive knowledge workshop open all day – all at the Maria-Ward-Gymnasium.

The Arge Donaumoos has announced its participation as exhibitors and the town of Günzburg is taking the momentum of the day with it for its own initiative: Günzburg plastikfrei (#gzplastikfrei). Environmental protection is actively lived here! The Zweckverband Landeswasserversorgung is also on site.

Ulm

In Ulm, the official kick-off of swimming will take place on “World Earth Day”. There will be a press conference at 14h at the Donaubüro (Kronengasse 4/3). Participants are:

  • Mr. Czisch (Lord Mayor of Ulm)
  • Ms. Walker (Minister of the Environment of the State of Baden-Württemberg)
  • Mr. Dahl (Managing Director of the Baden-Württemberg Foundation)
  • Mr. Weber (Head of the Education Department of the Baden-Württemberg Foundation)
  • Mr. Langer (Council of the Danube Cities and Regions and Danube Academy)
  • Mr. Bendel (Managing Director of the Donaubüro)
  • Mr. Seiffert (Managing Director of the Donaubüro)
  • Mr. Schäfer (Head of the waste water treatment plant)
  • Mr. Sitte (Board Menschen brauchen Menschen e. V.)
  • Mr. Denoix (BUND)
  • Mr. Fath (cleandanube)

Afterwards, at the latest around 15h30, we will go together to the banks of the Danube and see Andreas Fath off into the big swim. At the same time, a group of the BUND will search for microplastics in the water.

Black Danube

Early in the morning we go into the shaft that leads to the Black Danube. There we take water samples from an underground lake fed by water from the Danube seepage.

At 11 a.m. at the source of the Aach, members of the press will have the opportunity to ask questions, take pictures and get to know the team and Andreas Fath.

Donaueschingen

At the confluence of the Brigach and Breg rivers, we will implement a press reception with Andreas Fath and Niko Reith, deputy mayor, member of the state parliament and president of the local Lions Club, starting at 5 pm. And of course we will also take a water sample – because Brigach and Breg, bring the Danube to way!

Since Andreas Fath does not yet find enough water depth here to swim, our swim only begins further downstream.

Press representatives can also contact us for information about interview and recording opportunities.

From 15h30 we are already implementing workshops with young people on site.

Furtwangen

In Furtwangen we can’t go into the water yet – but we can analyse it. That’s why we will take water samples here in the run-up to the big tour – directly at the origin of the Danube in Furtwangen.

There will be a press reception at 14h at the Höhengasthaus Kolmenhof. Mayor Josef Herdner, Member of the State Parliament Martina Braun, Prof. Dr. Rolf Schofer, Rector of Furtwangen University, Jutta Neumann, Press Officer of Furtwangen University and Andreas Fath will be present.

A couple in traditional costume will accompany the event visually, and our musician Helmut Winterhalder will provide the musical framework.

Press representatives can also obtain information from us about opportunities for interviews and recordings.
