Bački Monoštor

Swimming between the districts of Buda and Pest will not only mean we have the third week behind us, we will also have completed over 1000 km! There’s hardly a better reason to celebrate – and best of all with the great people from Valyo, who are responsible for implementing such great projects and with whom we are making a difference on 14 May. Andreas Fath will again find himself in good company in and out of the river. Watch this space!

Would you like to participate in our project locally with your organisation, nature conservation group, sports club, company or as an education institution, municipality/city, artist or just for fun? We look forward to hearing from you and getting your input!

Our educational programme is primarily aimed at young people – we will truly appreciate your participation.

Representatives of the press can also obtain information from us regarding opportunities for interviews.

Vienna

We will reach Vienna at the end of the second week, which means that we will have already completed a quarter of the planned journey. But there is more to celebrate here, because we have great partner organisations on board and are really looking forward to the joint event. The event in the “Central Garden” on the Danube Canal is our highlight, for which we are planning a whole day.

  • from 9am we expect the press representatives on site
  • at 10am our big press conference will start with many exciting and prominent guests – we will hand over the first water samples to the University of Vienna, which will do the analysis
  • from 14h we offer workshops, as well as Natalie, art student from Vienna
  • at 17h15 the big cleandanube-competition will start, where Andreas Fath will compete with athletes of the Sportunion Vienna – Registration at: sportunion.at/wien/news/2022/04/14/kanu-competition-am-donaukanal-am-6-mai-2022/
  • at 18h we expect the finish at the “Central Garden
  • from 19h on there will be a party with a concert by Christine Hinterkörner and music by the Berlin DJ Luki Droit.

Numerous partners will be on site with stands, informing about their meaningful work and their diverse offers.

Mischa G. Hendel from Aktionsradius Wien organises a Danube Canal excursion with urban explorer Peter Payer, during which you will experience cultural and sensory history along the “little Danube”: hear, smell, feel, see, taste, touch. The excursion ends at the Central Garden at cleandanube. https://aktionsradius.at

Krems

We will also stop in Krems, where workshops and a small welcoming reception are planned. Find out more here soon!

Marbach

We will reach Marbach around 5 pm for a press conference and an exchange with young people. From 6 p.m. we will hold our workshops in 3671 Marbach an der Donau, in the clubhouse of the Wakesharks, accompanied by a nice programme for all passers-by.

Au

We will also offer workshops again at the Au campsite, which we will reach in the early evening. All local people are welcome to come by and spend the evening with us. Cooking will be done from rescued food.

Linz

At 2 p.m. we will stop in Linz and in the open-air area of the Lentos Art Museum Andreas Fath will talk with Climate City Councillor Eva Schobesberger and Climate Regional Councillor Stefan Kaineder about the urgent need for action in water protection. The event will be accompanied by Linz performance artist Crystn Hunt Akron with “Plasticphonia” – music made from plastic waste washed up on the Danube and in the oceans.

Haus am Strom

The Haus am Strom is located behind beautiful Passau directly on the Danube and offers a great exhibition on the river and topics related to the Danube. We are very happy to stop there and offer a nice programme for young and old together with the Haus am Strom.

From 2 p.m. we invite you to workshops and research games: big and small researchers can go in search of the small particles in the water with a microscope and also explore aquatic animals and other things.

At the same time, all members of the press and visitors will have the opportunity to talk to Andreas Fath and the team and ask questions.
